Chris Zimmerman

Chris Zimmerman is Senior Vice President and General Counsel. He was appointed General Counsel in 2019 after serving National Life Group as Assistant General Counsel and Senior Counsel and supporting various business units, including operations, distribution and compliance. He has overall responsibility for the Law Department, overseeing all legal matters, and for the company’s compliance organization.

Before joining National Life in 2013, Zimmerman practiced for nearly a decade at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr in Boston, a leading international law firm where he was a member of the Litigation Department. Prior to that he was a clerk for The Hon. George Z. Singal, United States District Court Judge, District of Maine.

Zimmerman is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Law Center. He is active in the American Council of Life Insurers and the Association of Life Insurance Counsel, as well as other industry groups.
