Beats For Good voting opens today – vote for the high school musicians who will open Do Good Fest
Montpelier, VT - (June 9, 2023) Voting opens today for the public to choose the high school musicians that will open Do Good Fest, a free benefit concert series that has raised more than $345,000 since 2014 to bring peace of mind to National Life's communities.
The act that receives the most votes will receive the opportunity to open Do Good Fest and win a $5,000 cash prize for their school’s music program. Voting closes on June 23.
The winners will be announced on Star 92.9’s Mike and Mary and on Do Good Fest on Friday, June 30.
Out of 19 submissions, 10 acts were chosen as favorites by a panel of local music professionals and educators. Now the public chooses their favorite. Watch the videos and vote here: Beats for Good — Do Good Fest.
In its second year, Beats for Good is open to any current Vermont high school student and their classmates. This contest is open to musical acts of all sizes and genres, acoustic or electric. The grand prize winner will open Do Good Fest, have the opportunity to meet the local and national musicians, and receive a $5,000 donation to their school’s music program. First and second runners-up will receive $2500 and $1000 respectively for their school’s music program, play during the festival and also have exclusive backstage access.
Do Good Fest is held on the company’s Montpelier campus on July 15. National Life has once again partnered with Star 92.9 to bring Fastball and lovelytheband along with headliner, two-time Grammy nominated American Rock Band Plain White T’s and Vermont favorite, All Night Boogie Band.
The concert will again benefit Branches of Hope, the cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center’s National Life Cancer Treatment Center. The past Do Good fests have raised more than $350,000 for the fund.
National Life is also bringing back Beats for Good, a high school music competition for Vermont students. This year there will be a grand prize winner as well as a first and second runner-up. The grand prize winner will open Do Good Fest from the main stage and win $5,000 for their school’s music program. The runners-up will also have the opportunity to play at Do Good Fest and win $2,500 and $1,000 respectively for their school’s music programs. All three winners will have exclusive backstage access to meet the local and national musicians. The public can vote for their favorite high school musicians between June 9 and June 23. Winners will be announced with Mike and Mary on Star 92.9 Friday, June 30.
In 2022, there were over 6,000 concert attendees. Like last year, this year’s festival benefits the Branches of Hope cancer patient fund at Central Vermont Medical Center. The festival includes a VIP Lounge, food vendors, a nonprofit village, facepainting for kids and a fireworks display.
