National Life Group executive named WIFS’ Woman of the Year at 2024 Thrive Women's Conference
Montpelier, VT - (November 6, 2024) National Life Group is proud to announce that Vice President and Head of Retirement Services Darlene Flagg has been honored as the Woman of the Year by Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) at its annual Thrive Women’s Conference held in Philadelphia.
The WIFS Woman of the Year award recognizes a member for their level of engagement with the association. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as a mentor, volunteering efforts for task force(s), and/or being active in WIFS programs.
According to a WIFS writeup of the conference: “Darlene has served on our National Board as both Vice President and President. During her time on the National Board, Darlene made a great impact on the organization by developing a clear roadmap to engage younger generations and dedicating her time to providing professional development to women in the industry.”
Flagg (pictured, center) received this prestigious recognition for her significant contributions to the Dallas Fort Worth and Houston WIFS Chapters, demonstrating her commitment to empowering women within the industry.
“Being nominated was a humbling experience, and I am deeply honored and truly grateful to be selected by the Women in Insurance and Financial Services community for such a distinguished award—Woman of the Year,” Flagg said. “This recognition means more than words can express. As we strive to build the next generation of women leaders, it’s essential that we uplift one another, pouring into others just as we are filled and inspired along the way. Thank you, National Life Group, for affording me the opportunity to serve WIFS.”
The Thrive Women’s Conference serves as a vital platform for professionals dedicated to advancing women in financial services. This year’s event emphasized education, professional development, and invaluable networking opportunities, all aimed at empowering women to excel both personally and professionally in a historically male-dominated industry.
“We are proud to celebrate Darlene’s achievements and her steadfast dedication to advancing women in our field,” said Mehran Assadi, Chairman, CEO, and President of National Life Group. “Her leadership and passion inspire us all to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment in financial services.”
