National Life Group supports Vermont Foodbank with $29K donation and names it 2025 Do Good Fest® beneficiary

Check presentation for donation by National Life Group to Vermont Foodbank

Montpelier, VT - (February 28, 2025) –National Life Group, a leading provider of life insurance, continues its commitment to ending childhood hunger by naming the Vermont Foodbank as the sole recipient of the 2025 National Life Group Do Good Fest®. The announcement comes alongside a $29,674 donation raised through the company’s Share the Good program, which matches associate donations to charities.

Beth Rusnock, President of the National Life Group Foundation, and Executive Director John Mullett presented the check to Vermont Foodbank CEO John Sayles, marking another year of partnership in addressing hunger in Vermont. This initiative is a core aspect of National Life Group's mission to support nonprofits focused on community development and ending childhood hunger, two issues central to the company’s values.

“We are proud to see our employees support such a worthy cause year after year,” Rusnock said. “This donation is just one part of our ongoing efforts to give back to the community through corporate philanthropy and charitable giving programs like Share the Good.”

Vermont Foodbank has been the top recipient of the Share the Good program for many years. The program began in 2008, and National Life Group matches donations up to $2,000, providing associates with an opportunity to give back to causes they care about. Over the years, the program has raised more than $6 million to support over 1,000 charities nationwide.

“I couldn’t be happier to hear about the donation and to learn that the Vermont Foodbank will be the recipient of Do Good Fest this year,” Sayles said. “This is fantastic news, not only because of the funds that Do Good Fest will raise, but also for the awareness it will bring to the critical issue of hunger. National Life is a cornerstone of our Vermont community, reflecting the all-in approach needed to solve hunger. Together, as Vermonters, we can ensure that no neighbor goes without food.”

Do Good Fest, an annual event hosted by National Life Group, will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, on the company’s back lawn in Montpelier. This year’s festival will feature music from national and regional acts, food trucks, a nonprofit village and its signature fireworks. The Vermont Foodbank will be the sole beneficiary of this year’s festival, which aims to raise awareness for its work combating food insecurity in the community.

The 2025 Do Good Fest lineup of national and regional acts will be announced in mid-April, when the high school musician contest, Beats for Good, will also be announced.

Since 2015, the National Life Group Foundation’s Share the Good program has been integral to raising funds for local organizations, and in 2024, National Life Group achieved a significant milestone, donating nearly $914,000 to 595 nonprofits across the country.
