National Life Group names Unum Group EVP and CIO Martha Leiper to Board of Directors

Montpelier, VT - (February 14, 2024) – Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Unum Group Martha Leiper of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was elected to serve on the National Life Group Board of Directors as of Feb. 14.

A seasoned financial services executive with over 35 years of experience leading finance and investment organizations at two Fortune 500 companies, Leiper has been at the core of complex business challenges and largescale transformations throughout her career. Having worked through multiple economic downturns, she brings significant leadership and perspective, working across the enterprise in asset allocation, risk management, financial planning, and internal controls.

At Unum, Leiper is responsible for developing and implementing investment strategy to enhance the portfolio and grow Unum’s risk management program through targeted portfolio actions and derivatives programs. Previously, she served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance and Enterprise Money Movement for USAA, a financial services company providing banking, investment management, retirement solutions, and insurance to millions of military members and their families.
